The Challenge

Passenger luggage matching systems have been developed over the years to allow airlines, airports and ground handling services to cooperate in the baggage handling process in line with ICAO regulations.

When Turkish Airlines Technology wanted to develop a mobile and web platform to further improve the efficiency and management of their passenger baggage handling processes within their vast network, they contacted us.

Key Aims

  • Minimise lost luggage.
  • To improve monitoring and tracking of luggage from check-in, until arrival.
  • Provide real-time communication to users.
  • Detect damaged luggage as early as possible.
  • Archive all baggage movements.
  • Minimise cost of lost luggage.
  • Increase flight safety by ensuring that passengers and their luggage are transported together.

What We Developed

Working together with Turkish Airlines Technology teams, Pinsoft developed BagGlobe, a completely enhanced baggage management operations solution, that can be integrated with any airline system to prevent (flight) delays related to baggage.

Hand terminal applications were developed on Android, to be used by airport, airline and ground handling personnel.

A web admin application for System Administrators was also developed, to enable them to track arrival and departure flights, normal / irregular bag search, as well as define flight related definitions.

Key Features

  • Real-time information on luggage status.
  • Determine the place of loading luggage / containers.
  • Display loaded luggage status (Business / Team / Transit / Rush / Damaged / Gate / Security bag)
  • Easier / quicker identification and location of luggage that needs to be offloaded.
  • Provides information of remaining luggage and late flight luggage.
  • Monitor and record the movements of the users (operation done, wrong transaction, number of checked luggage, etc.)
  • Prevent loading of unlicensed luggage.

BagGlobe has been implemented domestically at one airport terminal. The goal is to install BagGlobe at five terminals every month.
